Higher Menadew Farm is our home and we have two children Samantha and James. Andrew was born and bred at Higher Menadew, his parent’s having moved here in 1944, and Anita originates from London.
We appreciate that quality holidays are important, they are a time to relax, refresh and enjoy. Consequently, when we diversified and opened our first cottage in 1999 we set about making a “home from home” where that could happen. Since then we have worked hard to create a place where families and couples can escape and unwind in comfortable cottages and with facilities that make a holiday effortless and pleasurable.
Of course our location helps. Where better than to base a holiday in the peaceful Cornish countryside yet within easy reach of all that Cornwall has to offer from glorious gardens to exciting outdoor activities, not to mention the fabulous coastline and scenery. We have walked all Cornwall’s coastal path, all 296.2 miles, along with one of our Labradors, Archie, and the views are endlessly stunning. We feel fortunate to live and work in such a unique and beautiful county.
We value, and try to take care of, the environment too. Our all grass farm on which we rear beef cattle (the dairy herd went in 1996) has an environmental stewardship scheme in place, primarily our grassland has low inputs to encourage traditional grasses and our hedges are overgrown, and we are members of the Cornwall Sustainable Tourism Project (CoaST) and the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS). We also support the Cornwall Wildlife Trust in their important work.
